Black History Month at »»ÆÞ̽»¨

31 Jan 2025
This year’s events and theme on campus honours the transformative achievements of Black individuals throughout history.

February is Black History Month, and this year’s theme on campus is Excellence Redefined: Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future.

Selected by Black student groups and Student Life, this theme celebrates the transformative achievements of Black people throughout history, while recognizing the remarkable contributions shaping our world today. It focuses on honouring legacies, celebrating the past, and inspiring the future.

Events have been organized on campus throughout February highlighting Black excellence in our community, while encouraging the next generation to break barriers, redefine success, and create a lasting impact.

Celebrations will kick off with the raising of the Pan-African Flag next to the Owens Art Gallery on Monday, Feb. 3 at 12 p.m.

Creating an inclusive community through education and awareness is the responsibility of all its members and this month is an opportunity to come together as a community to learn about history, lived experience, and Black excellence within our community and Canada’s history.
